8 Exciting Cricketers emerging from PSL 8

Exciting Cricketers emerging from PSL 8 is the list of new, amazing and wonderful talent that has been produced by Pakistan soil in the 8th edition of HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Historically, PSL has served as a nursery for Pakistan cricket where dozens of new emerging and amazing players are hunted, launched and trained, each year.

PSL has been proved to be a launching pad for several talented young players that ultimately represent Pakistan national cricket team at international horizon.

A few examples of PSL contributions to Pakistan cricket are Fakhar Zaman, Hasan Ali, Shadab Khan, Salman Agha, Haris Rauf, Usama Mir, Muhammad Nawaz, Haider Ali, Mohammad Haris, and many others.

1. Ihsanullah Khan- Multan Sultans

Ihsanullah Khan is an emerging player introduced by Multan Sultan in PSL 8. He has been so successful in PSL 8th edition that he won the player-of-the-tournament and best bowler of the tournament awards. 

The right-arm pacer took second-highest 22 wickets in PSL season 8. He has also represented Pakistan national team in the series against New Zealand.

He is named best among more experienced and established stars in the tournament. 

2. Zaman Khan – Lahore Qalandars

Zaman Khan has been exceptional in the recent season of PSL as an emerging cricketer. He is a superb and expert of death bowling.

He played a great role for Lahore qalandars in winning the tournament. In PSL, He has taken 40 wickets with an economy of 8.26 and an average of 22.35.

The young fast bowler has pace, variations and every ingredient to be successful in this tournament and he can be among the top emerging bowlers this season.

3. Shawaiz Irfan – Lahore Qalandars

Shawaiz Irfan built a reputation of being a fierce striker of the cricket ball in the Pakistan Junior League.

He was part of the champion side Bahawalpur Royals and blasted a 32-ball 79 studded with six sixes in the final of the competition.

His rollicking show allowed him a chance in the Pakistan U19 team for the home series against Bangladesh U19.

4. Qasim Akram – Karachi Kings

Qasim Akram is another talented emerging cricketer who can both bat and bowl and can be pretty handy in this tournament.

He has played under-19 matches for Pakistan. He has played 37 T20 matches and scored 451 runs with an average of 19.60 and a great strike rate of 141.82. 

Qasim is also a handy bowler as he has 17 wickets in T20 with an average of 27.05 and an economy of 7.84. The 20 years old can be an important part of the Karachi King’s campaign and can bat at number 4,5 or even 6.

5. Hassan Nawaz – Islamabad United

The Layyah-born Hassan Nawaz demonstrated his six-hitting talent in the Kashmir Premier League stint with Mirpur Royals, where he managed 241 runs in six innings at a strike-rate of 148.76 and 14 maximums.

Hassan also played five games in the National T20 2022-23, showing glimpses of brilliance.

6. Aimal Khan – Quetta Gladiators

Aimal Khan is a right-arm pacer and made waves in the opening match of the Pakistan Junior League when he bowled a match-winning spell of 3-15 in four overs for Mardan Warriors.

In the list of Exciting Cricketers emerging from PSL 8, Aimal is one of them. Aimal’s ability to generate steep pace and sharp swing makes him a potent option with the new ball.

7. Abbas Afridi – Multan Sultans

Mohammad Abbas Afridi is a Pakistani Cricketer from KPK. He is the nephew of former Pakistani pacer Umer Gul. He made his List A debut for Habib Bank Limited in the 2018–19 Quaid-e-Azam One Day Cup.

He made his first-class debut for HBL in the 2018–19 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy.
In December 2019, he was named in Pakistan’s squad for the 2020 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. He was leading wicket-taker for Pakistan in the mega event.

He made his Twenty20 debut for Karachi Kings in the 2021 Pakistan Super League PSL 6. In October 2021, he was named in the Pakistan Shaheens squad for their tour of Sri Lanka.

8. Haseebullah – Peshawar Zalmi

Talented prospect from Pishin, Haseebullah Khan has been a prolific performer in the domestic circuit ever since he made his List A debut in March 2022.

He was the leading run-getter in his team’s Pakistan Cup 2021-22 winning campaign and was second-highest run-scorer in the subsequent season of the 50-over tournament.

His tally of 551 runs and 10 dismissals saw him take home the best wicketkeeper of the tournament award and he is in list of Exciting Cricketers emerging from PSL 8.
