Top 5 Female Sports presenters of Pakistan

Top 5 Female Sports presenters of Pakistan is a list of women commentators and TV anchors that have been part of major cricket events of Pakistan for the last couple of years.

Pakistan Super League (PSL) is a premier cricket event of Pakistan. Where PSL is helping Pakistan to discover a lot of young cricket talent, at the same time an elite lot of commentators has also been discovered.

A new addition to Pakistan cricket has been a pool of female TV anchors and commentators that have become regular part of Pakistan cricket matches.

In the last a few years a lot of women TV anchors and commentators have done their debut in cricket commentary, however following five have been most prominent and most successful till to date.

5. Sawera Pasha

Sawera Pasha is Pakistan’s seasoned female broadcaster, journalist, sports presenter and anchor.

Sawera Pasha is owner of a YouTube channel. She thinks that she has passion for sports anchoring more than commentary. She praises the efforts of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in encouraging women commentators, especially for young girls and women.

“Still, I feel that my forte is sports anchoring. Just like an anesthetist won’t do surgery, I won’t do commentary and analysis,” Sawera says.

4. Sana Mir

Sana Mir is rising sports presenter and cricket commentator from Abbottabad. She is well educated as she has graduation in statistics and economics.

Sana Mir was was captain of Pakistan women cricket team. She played 226 international matches and captained 137 of them. After retirement from international cricket she joined the profession of sports presenter and cricket commentary.

She was part of TV commentators pool of PSL 2023.

She is one of the five women players to complete the double of of 1000 runs and 100 wickets in ODIs.

3. Marina Iqbal

Marina Iqbal

Marina Iqbal has done commentary in the Pakistan and West Indies women series in 2019. She has been doing commentary in the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy, the National T20 tournament, and radio commentary for the PSL and the National T20 in the last a few year.

“In the commentary box, at first our male colleagues were quite sceptical about us, but all that is changing now as we prove ourselves,” Marina says.

“My family knows that cricket is my life and that I can’t leave cricket. So they are glad to see me involved in the game I love so much,” she says.

2. Urooj Mumtaz Khan

Urooj Mumtaz Khan

Urooj Mumtaz Khan is a proud Pakistan women x-cricketer, x-captain and now a famous sports anchor and commentator.

She was born in Karachi and got a degree of Dentistry from the Fatima Jinnah Dental College, Karachi. She represented Pakistan’s national women’s cricket team and Asia XI cricket team.

She was also the captain of Pakistan women cricket tea in ICC Women’s World Cup 2009. She believes in women empowerment and she considers herself a role model for the young girls of current age.

In last 2 years, Urooj has been regular fixture in commentary box in almost all the cricket series and tournaments of Pakistan including PSL.

Zainab is currently one of the most popular female commentators of Pakistan. She is quite famous on social media as well since she has nearly two million followers on Twitter and half a million followers on Instagram.

Zainab belongs to Lahore. Zainab was certainly a hard worker from an early age. She holds an MBA degree in marketing and strategy from the university of Warwick, England.

Zainab is also makeup expert and she has her own makeup studio. She is also a regular sports writer in newspapers as she has been writing in Dunya News and Dawn.

In 2019, she became the first Pakistani female presenter in the International Cricket Council’s Cricket World Cup.
