Pakistan ranked No. 1 Team in ODI Cricket as Pakistan beats New Zealand in 4th ODI in Karachi on 5 May. This was Pakistan’s fourth consecutive win over NZ in the 5 match series.

This is the first time in history that Pakistan has toped in the ICC Men’s ODI cricket ranking. Now, Pakistan needs to win the 5th ODI as well to stay on the No. 1 rank in Men’s ODI cricket.

Pakistan became No.1 team in the ICC ODI Men’s cricket Rankings in the 4th ODI in National Stadium, Karachi that Pakistan won by a fair margin of 102 runs.

In the 4th ODI, Babar Azam scored his 18th century as he has become the quickest batter to 5,000 runs in the world. Babar Azam surpassed Hashim Amla by achieving the the milestone in just 97 innings, whereas Amla took 101 innings to achieve the same.

In the 4th ODI, Pakistan set a target of 335 in 50 overs however, NZ could score only 232 runs for all out in 43.4 overs. In the match, Pakistan captain Babar Azam scored 107 runs and Agha Salman scored crucial 58 runs in this memorable win.

For Pakistan, Usama Mir took 4 wickets and Muhammad Wasim took 3 wickets. For NZ, Tom Latham was the highest scorer with 60 runs.

Now Pakistan has 113 points along Australia and India on the ICC ODI Men’s ranking, however Pakistan is now marginally ahead from Australia and India that’s why ranked No. 1 in the ICC ranking.

However, Pakistan will have to to win the last ODI of the 5 match series as well to stay on the No. 1 rank in Men’s ODI cricket. The 5th match of the series will be played on 7th May at National Stadium, Karachi.

Pakistan ranked No. 1 Team in ODI Cricket and if Pakistan wins the 5th match of the series against NZ, Pakistan will consolidate its No. 1 position with 115 points.

Previously, the highest ranking achieved by Pakistan was third position in January 2007 and June 2022. Pakistan had also achieved top position in the Test rankings in 2016, while they had achieved the No.1 T20I ranking in 2017.

Recently, Pakistan has won its 500th ODI on 2th April 2023 by a five wickets in the opening match of the five-match series against New Zealand (NZ).

Pakistan is only the third team who has achieved this honour to reach the 500 win mark. The other two teams are Australia and India.

Australia is at the top of the list with 594 wins and India is number 2 in the list with 539 wins in ODI cricket.

Till now Pakistan has 950 ODI matches and has won 501 matches with a win percentage of 52.3%.
