World’s first gaming smartphone is announced by ASUS as Asus ROG Phone 6 will be the “first gaming smartphone” powered by the latest Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset with an IPX4 rating.

After ensuring the launch of its next-gen gaming flagship device, the ROG Phone 6, earlier this month, Asus has been tweaking some of the key features of its upcoming smartphone.

It is also announced that the phone will have an advanced cooling system to reduce throttling. Asus has not yet announced any other specs or features of the new ROG Phone 6.

However, rumors indicate that the device will also have a 6.78-inch Full HD+ OLED display with support for a 165Hz refresh rate.

It is also anticipated to come with 64MP triple cameras, up to 16GB of RAM, and up to 1TB of internal storage. And like its predecessor, the device is predicted to be fueled with a 6,000mAh battery plus support for 65W fast charging.

As for the design, although Asus is still pending to entirely demonstrate the look of the ROG Phone 6, the device was recently perceived on the Chinese certification website, TENAA.

According to the images, the ROG Phone 6 will have a similar design to that of its previous builds earlier this year.

It seems unlikely that the 6.78in display that was standard on the 5S models will get any bigger for the ROG Phone 6.

This isn’t due to hardware limitations, more the fact that you still need to be able to put in your pocket at some point.

Expect the same FHD+ AMOLED panel with a 144Hz refresh rate, accompanied by the whopping great 6,000mAh battery that will let you enjoy extended gaming sessions.

As with the 5S, rumours suggest that the top spec will offer 18GB of RAM and 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage, with various other configurations on offer starting from 8GB/128GB.

There should also be 5G, Wi-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.2 on hand to cover all your connectivity needs. World’s first gaming smartphone is announced by Asus

Cameras on the 5S were comprised of a 64Mp Sony IMX686 sensor, 13Mp 125-degree ultra-wide, and 5Mp Macro.

It’s true that some of these could be bumped up to match the larger sensors offered by other phones, but with the focus more on gaming performance than optics, we think this could remain the configuration on the Rog Phone 6 as well.
