6.07 Million Mobile Phones manufactured locally in 2023 First Half as Pakistan is looking forward to reduce smartphone imports and increase relying on local manufacturing.
The local manufacturers in Pakistan have manufactured/assembled around 6.07 million smartphone and mobile handsets during the first half of 2023.
On the other side in the first half of 2023 only 0.53 million smartphone and mobile handsets were imported.
According to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), Pakistan imported mobile phones worth US $447.855 million during July 2022 to February 2023.

According to PBS, there is a major decline of 68.29 percent in imports as compared to the imports during the same period in the last fiscal year (2021-22).
In the month of June 2023, the local manufacturers manufactured/assembled more than 1 million mobile handsets.
In the locally manufactured/assembled 6.07 million mobile phones handsets, there are around 4.77 million 2G handsets and 1.3 million smartphone handsets.
According to the statistics of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), more than 56 percent of mobile devices are smartphones.
During the fiscal year 2022-23, there was a negative growth of 71.19 percent since 4 times less mobile phones were imported as compared to the fiscal year 2021-22.
In June 2023, mobile phone imports were increased by 24.03% as compared to the imports in May 2023, according to data of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).
Mobile phone imports registered 66.30% in June 2023 compared to the imports in June 2022.

There was a growth of 11.18% in the the overall telecom imports since it was $96.481 million in June 2023 as compared to $86.777 million in June 2022.
Similarly, in Jul 2022 t0 June 2023, there was 45.16 percent negative growth compared to $705.353 million during the same period of the previous year.
