Babar Azam graced with Sitara-e-Imtiaz as he is nominated for this prestigious award and will be honored in a ceremony to be held on 23rd March, 2023.

Pakistan captain, Babar Azam, will be honored with the prestigious civil award for his remarkable contributions to Pakistan’s cricket as a captain and a top-performing batter. 

Pakistan cricket team captain Babar Azam has been nominated for this award to highlight and acknowledge his outstanding achievements in international cricket.

Babar Azam will receive the Sitara-e-Imtiaz award at the age of 28 and he will become the youngest cricketer to receive this award.

The Government of Pakistan has confirmed that Babar will receive the Sitara-e-Imtiaz award in a ceremony of Pakistan Day to be held on Thursday, 23 March 2023. 

The award will be presented on 23rd March 2023, which coincides with the Pakistan Day celebrations. 

Babar Azam is on rest and not part of the team for Pakistan vs Afghanistan 3 T20 match series, which is set to be started on Friday, 24th March in Sharjah, UAE.

In the last 5 years, Babar Azam has emerged as a role model for the young cricketers. Such awards will not onlt honor the batsman abut also motivate the young cricketers to perform at the highest level.

Notably, four former captains, including Misbah-ul-Haq, Younis Khan, Shahid Afridi, and Sarfraz Ahmed, have been awarded with Sitara-e-Imtiaz.

The Sitara-e-Imtiaz is the third-highest civil honor that is presented to Pakistan nationals for their outstanding contributions in their field of profession.

Before them, four other Pakistan cricketers had received this honorable award for their remarkable achievements in cricket.

Including these players are Saeed Ajmal in 2015, Mohammad Yousuf in 2011, Inzamam ul Haq in 2005, and Javed Miandad in 1992.

Before Babar Azam, former Pakistan captain, Sarfraz Ahmed, was the youngest Pakistan cricketer to receive the Sitara-e-Imtiaz award. Babar Azam graced with Sitara-e-Imtiaz in 2023.

Babar Azam is a right-hand, top-order batsman known for his discipline and level-headed attitude, Babar Azam laid claim to a long-term spot in Pakistan’s batting line-up.

He also performed in 2016, making three consecutive ODI hundreds against West Indies in the UAE, and a 90 in his third Test, in Hamilton. He was 22 years old at the time.

Babar was born in Lahore and a first cousin to the Akmal brothers, Azam made his way up through age-group cricket.

His journey began at an under-15 world championship in 2008 and he played two under-19 World Cups in 2010 and 2012, where he was Pakistan’s top run-scorer.
