Apple to launch second generation AirTag with new features

Apple to launch AirTag 2.0 as Apple is thinking to to launch the second generation AirTag after the great success of AirTag 1.0.

Apple AirTag is a small tracking device and Apple aims to more updated and improved version of it at the end of 2023. 

The Cupertino-giant launched the AirTag 1.0 in 2021. It is a small tracking device which is primarily used to track important belongings.

The users of Air Tag 1.0 has liked this useful gadget and has appreciated its unique features and usability.

Popular analyst Ming Chi Kuo has predicted that Apple is working on the second generation AirTag soon.

The device has been embroiled in controversies ever since it was launched.

While Apple had launched it with a clear intention of letting people track their belongings, people have misused the device for stalking people.

As per Ming Chi Kuo, Apple may consider a second generation AirTags. It has not received much attention, has gradually grown in shipments since its release.

Shipment estimations of AirTag reach about 20 mn & 35 mn units in 2021 & 2022, respectively. If its shipments continue to grow, I believe Apple will develop the 2nd generation,” Kuo tweeted.

Besides, AirTage 2.o there are two other wonderful Apple products in queue known as Apple mixed reality Headset and Apple AR/VR assisted iGlass.

1. Expected Features

The AirTag 2.0 is expected to have many new features foe the sake of more acceptance, usability and viability. Apple to launch AirTag 2.0 soon.

A few of the expected features in AirTag 2.0 are as below:

  • AirTag 1.0 was not completely waterproof. It is expected that AirTag 2.0 will be completely waterproof.
  • AirTag 1.0 easily get scuffed in just a few days of use, however, it is expected that the AirTag 2.0 will have a more durable design and construct.
  • AirTag 2.0 will have the Tile feature so that the user can share access of AirTag to other people such as family members.
  • AirTag 2.0 price is expected to bit lower so that a person can carry and use multiple AirTags with his gadgets and accessories. However, AirTag1 cost around USD 30.
  • AirTag 2.0 may have notches, holes or other extras so that it can be attached to any luggage easily.

2. Lunching Information

So Apple will only consider launching the second generation AirTags if the total sales cross 35 million units in 2022.

If the sales reports are to be considered, it, despite all the controversies, has gained prominence in the market.

It is the first name that pops up as far as fitness trackers are concerned. Appleto launch AirTag 2.0.

While Kuo has not revealed a definite timeline, he says that the launch of the second gen AirTag will only depend on the total number of sales.
