Solar Powered Drone can fly for 20 Months as UK has launched a solar energy enabled drone that has a wingspan of 115 feet.

A UK solar-powered drone has successfully completed its first flight into the stratosphere.

The 115 feet large wings are fitted with solar panels and according to experts this drone can easily fly in the air for 20 months.

The total weight of solar-electric aircraft is 150kg and is designed and produced by London-based BAE Systems at the company’s facility in Wharton, Lancashire.

In an experiment flight, this drone is named PHASA-35 and took off from New Mexico and reached an altitude of more than 66,000 feet.

China also has introduced its first solar-powered drone that successfully reached an altitude of 20,000 meters during a test flight in the country’s northwest regions

The BAE designed drone successfully flied for more than 24 hours before landing back on the ground.

This aircraft gets energy from the sun during the day and from batteries during the night, with the help of which it can spend more than one and a half years in the stratosphere region.

The PHASA-3515 can carry cameras, sensors and other communication equipment up to 1 kg.

This drone can be useful for communication between military forces or for providing internet in rural areas during natural disasters or emergencies.

This drone is also capable of providing communication networks like 4G and 5G in areas with poor internet service.

Drones have been very useful and affective in recent past in applications like aerial photography, package delivery, fire fighting and other applications.

The modern drones are now equipped with sophisticated technologies such as high-resolution cameras, sensors, GPS, and artificial intelligence, making them more capable and versatile than ever before.
