Robot filling the fuel tank of your car and you keep sitting in your car this is now reality as the petrol pumping robot can open the fuel tank by itself and can dispense the fuel autonomously.
The field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Robotics has made this task vey much possible for the car drivers specifically for a very cold or rough weather.
Now, it is possible the a driver keep sitting on his driving seat and parks his car in front of the robot arm that will first autonomously open the petrol tank lid and then fill the fuel and at the end shuts it back.
This is not a dream as this is happening in reality as Denmark-based company named Autofuel has installed a gas-pumping robot in fuel station that fills the fuel autonomously.
However, there are some requirements of using this AI based Autofuel system as the customers must pre sign up for this service.
The process of signing up is simple as the customers provide their vehicles details for example; car plate/registration number, selecting fuel type, and the receptive payment information.
Such customers also need to install a specific petrol tank cap on their vehicle that can be easily operated by the Autofuel robot.
1. How Does it Work
When the driver approaches an Autofuel-equipped pump, they’ll see a screen that tells them where to park their vehicle — similar to the systems at automatic car washes that will tell you to pull up to a certain point and put your car in neutral.
The driver follows the following steps to get his car/vehicle fueled.
- The driver need to park the car right in front of the Autofuel robot arm.
- Right parking will be shown by the red signal that will be turned on.
- The driver need to turn the car in neutral.
- After parking, the system uses the car’s registration plate to identify the customer.
- The robot arm then opens the fuel tank cap and dispense the petrol autonomously.
- Once it finishes the task, the customer will see a green light that lets them know they can drive away.
2. What is the future?
An expert also added that this Autofuel robot is highly useful since it can be adapted it to any kind of fuel such as EV charger, petrol, CNG, hydrogen, etc.
This autofuel robot can be a game changer in the success of the autonomous cars/vehicles. Robot filling the fuel tank is possible now.
There is no need of humans to fuel the autonomous vehicles as such general purpose robots can do such simple task efficiently.
