Pakistan Squad announced for Afghanistan Series and Asia Cup

Pakistan squad announced for Afghanistan Series and Asia Cup as the new chief selector of Pakistan has announced the squad of Pakistan for the forthcoming series.

Chief selector of the national cricket team, Inzamam-ul-Haq announced the 18-member squad for the ODI series against Afghanistan and the 17-member squad for the Asia Cup.

In Pakistan squad, Saud Shakeel is a surprise inclusion since in the 18-member squad for the series against Afghanistan after his brilliant performance against Sri Lanka test Series.

However, Saud is not part of the 17-member squad for the Asia Cup.

The national selection committee, includes Inzamam-ul-Haq, team director Mickey Arthur and head coach Grant Bradburn.

There is another new inclusion Tayyab Tahir and re-call Faheem Ashraf in the suad.

Faheem Ashraf has returned to the team after 2 years since he last played in the ODI series against England in July 2021.

It should be noted that the 50-over Asia Cup will begin with the match between Pakistan and Nepal in Multan on August 30.

Asia Cup 2023 is being hosted on multiple venues including Sri Lanka and Pakistan.

Pakistan team will also play an 3-match ODI series against Afghanistan from August 22 – 24. The ODI series will also be played in Sri Lanka.

Following is the 18-man squad for the ODI series against Afghanistan

Babar Azam (C), Abdullah Shafiq, Fakhr Zaman, Imamul Haq, Salman Ali Agha, Iftikhar Ahmed, Tayyab Tahir, Saud Shakeel, Muhammad Rizwan (W), Muhammad Haris, Shadab Khan (VC), Muhammad Nawaz, Osama Mir, Faheem Ashraf, Haris Rauf, Muhammad Wasim Junior, Naseem Shah and Shaheen Afridi are part of the squad.

The 17-member Pakistan squad for the Asia Cup is as below:

Babar Azam (C), Abdullah Shafiq, Fakhr Zaman, Imamul Haque, Salman Ali Agha, Iftikhar Ahmed, Tayyab Tahir, Muhammad Rizwan (W), Muhammad Haris, Shadab Khan (VC), Muhammad Nawaz, Osama Mir, Faheem Ashraf, Haris Rauf, Muhammad Wasim Jr. Naseem Shah and Shaheen Afridi are included.
