Hum Awaaz (Devotion) shortlisted in Kazan Film Festival as the movie is written and produced by Jawwad and Zainab Younas.

Hum Awaaz is a short film that covers themes of identity crisis, family relationships and the struggle to fulfill dreams of a young girl who lives in Quetta.

This is another honour for the Pakistan film industry that filmmaker Zainab Younas’s produced short film ‘Hum Awaaz’ was shortlisted for the Kazan International Muslim Film Festival.

The XIX Kazan International Muslim Film Festival will be held in the capital of Tatarstan from 5 – 9 September, this year.

According to the announcement made by the festival, 10 short films from 9 countries have been shortlisted out of 700 films from 44 countries, including ‘Hum Awaz’.

In the film, Zainab plays the role of Zoha, a young journalist who highlights the different shades of life of people living in Quetta city.

Akhtar Ali has played the role of Zoha’s father who tries to stop his daughter from portraying the true story of Quetta city.

Zoha is confused to either leave her hometown like many others in search of better opportunities or stay there to become the voice of her city by sharing experiences with the world.

Hum Awaaz (Devotion)

Zoha’s father role Akhtar Ali, is played by Abdullah Jan Ghaznavir. In movie, Akhtar Ali attempts to convince her to abide by showcasing the true essence of Quetta.

The plot of this short movie is spanned over issues like identity, family bonds, and the pursuit of one’s dreams.

Zainab’s film, selected in the Short Feature Films category, will be competing with other 9 movies that will be showcased at the festival.
