Oxford awards Fellowship to Malala Yousafzai

Oxford awards honourary fellowship to Malala Yousafzai as the Oxford Pakistan Program has awarded Malala with an honorary Fellowship.

Malala is well-known Pakistani activist for girls’ education and she is also the youngest Nobel Prize laureate.

To honour her accomplishments and efforts in education, the Oxford Pakistan Programme (OPP) has awarded her with an honorary fellowship by Oxford University’s Linacre College.

Now, Malala has became the first ever Pakistani to receive this honour as Oxford awards Fellowship to Malala Yousafzai.

Malala appraised the OPP’s efforts and influence in changing the lives of students in Pakistan.

“Malala is globally recognised for her extraordinary work in support of women’s education, particularly for those from the least advantaged backgrounds”, Principal Dr. Nick Brown said.

“It is a huge honour for my daughter to receive this recognition. I could see the joy on Malala’s face when she received the honour, and as a proud father, I am extremely happy for her.”, her father acclaimed.

He also added “I know that she will use this opportunity to further expand her work and collaborate with others to find solutions to the challenges in access to education for girls”.

3. Her Life in Pakistan

Malala was born on 12 July 1997 in the Swat District of Pakistan’s KPK province in a lower middle class family. She was living with her two younger brothers and her parents in Mingora, Swat.

She got her early education in schools of Swat. She started writing blogs for BBC when she was just 12 years old. She wanted to become a doctor while her father influenced to become a politician and serve the nation.

She started raising her voice at national and international media for the girls’ education and security for the girl’s schools in Swat.

In October 2012, a Taliban gunman shot Malala when she was ridding to her home on a bus after taking an exam in her home town Swat, Pakistan. 

4. Her Life in UK

Yousafzai recovered, staying with her family in Birmingham, where she returned to her studies and to activism.

After moving to Birmingham, UK and also continued her education in local schools of Birmingham.

She was named one of Time magazine’s most influential people in 2013 and appeared on one of the seven covers that were printed for that issue.

She was won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2014, and she became the youngest Nobel laureate ever.

Malala graduated from the University of Oxford in 2020 and she continued to raise her voice for human rights issues around the world.
