Microsoft's Viva Engage App Now Available for Download

Microsoft’s Viva Engage App Now Available for Download as Microsoft has introduced its own social LinkedIn rival called Viva Engage.

It was announced by Microsoft’s CEO Satya Nadella revealing the company’s plans to launch its own social media platform as a part of Microsoft Teams.

Microsoft has recently launched Viva mobile apps of Viva Engage for iOS and Android users. The users can now download and install this new app on their cell phones and hand-held devices.

The Microsoft’s new app has made it easy for employees to connect with their coworkers and share content and engage in communities. Unlike Twitter or Facebook, Viva Engage will be a business-oriented social network similar to LinkedIn.

Viva Engage seeks to improve the experience that Microsoft’s outgoing Yammer Communities offer. According to Yammer and Viva’s CVP Murali Sitaram, the goal is to bring “new capabilities to connect people, find and share knowledge, express [oneself], and find belonging at work.”

Viva will replace the currently existing Communities section in Teams and will roll out in “late August”. It will be available on all versions of Microsoft Teams, including mobile, web, and desktop apps.

Microsoft’s Viva Engage App Now Available for Download and users already using the Communities tab will not have to make any changes as the switch will be automatic.

Although Yammer is being replaced in Teams, it will still be available in browsers and mobile apps. All the content posted on Yammer will still be visible in the new Viva Engage tab.

Moreover, Microsoft says that it has “much more to share soon” so we can expect to see more developments coming this way for Teams or other Microsoft products.
