Ghusl e Kaaba Ceremony to be held on 15 Muharram as the Khana Kaaba is washed each year on 15 Muharram.
This year the Ghusl e Kaaba ceremony held on August 2 and it was performed by Makkah’s Governor Prince Khalid al-Faisal.
In the ceremony, Prince Khaled washed the inside of the Holy Kaaba with a mixture of Zamzam and rose water.
After the Ghusl-e-Kaaba, the Governor of Makkah also performed Tawaaf, which is part of the holy ritual.

The Kaaba Washing Ceremony is an event that dates back to the time of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
Some traditions state that The Prophet (PBUH) used to wash the Kabah twice a year. First in Muharram and the other before the beginning of the month of Ramadan.
When Ghusl e Kaaba happens?
The annual Ghusl-e-Kaaba ceremony is usually held at Masjid al-Haram in Saudi Arabia on Muharram 15 after Fajr prayers.
This year the Kaaba Washing Ceremony was held on 2 August, 2023.
What is used for Ghusl e Kaaba?
The washing liquid is prepared one day before that is used to clean the Holy Kaaba. The washing liquid is made of usually: Rose Water, Oud, and Itar (Perfume).

The high officials such as Makkah’s Governor takes part in the Ghusal of Khana Kaaba.
