Aleem Dar Retires from ICC’s Elite Panel and now his illustrious career as international umpire spanned over 23 years has come to an end.
Aleem Dar has served on ICC’s Elite Panel for a long time and he has represented Pakistan in 435 men’s international matches.
for 2023-24, Pakistan’s Ahsan Raza and South Africa’s Adrian Holdstock are included in the ICC’s Elite Panel of Umpires after Aleem’s retirement.
As an international umpire, Aleem Dar had an illustrious career as he also won the David Shepherd Trophy three years in a row from 2009 to 2011.
Besides Aleem, Simon Taufel, Richard Kettleborough, Marais Erasmus, and Kumar Dharmasena also received this award.
Aleem also played first-class cricket before he became an umpire. He was a right-handed batsman and a leg-break bowler. He played first-class cricket for Allied Bank, Pakistan Railways, Lahore, and Gujranwala.
Aleem Dar was one of the best umpires in the world cricket. Aleem Dar has record of officiating the most number of ODI matches (222 ODI matches) .
He made this record in the second ODI between Pakistan and Zimbabwe on 1 November 2020. He stood in his 210th ODI match as an on-field umpire, surpassing South African Rudi Koertzen’s record.
Aleem Dar was born on June 6, 1968, in Jhang, Pakistan. He has two sons Hassan and Ali, and one late daughter Jaweria.
Aleem Dar is well-reputed and best known as an international cricket umpire. He made his international umpiring debut in an ODI between Pakistan and Sri Lanka at Gujranwala on 16 February 2000.
In 2002 he became a member of ICC’s International Panel of umpires. He was chosen to umpire at the ICC Cricket World Cup.
