BMW Hydrogen Cars are Future as many fleet managers are keeping an eye on hydrogen as a zero-emission option, as charging times for battery-powered vehicles significantly influence downtime.

We met with Juergen Guldner, General Program Manager Hydrogen Technology at BMW Group, for a test drive, and a deep dive with the German manager.

Today there is demand of both types of Zero Emission Vehicles at scale to replace the internal combustion engine.

Very similar to gasoline and Diesel engines, FCV and EVs are both needed.

The higher the mass, range and fueling speed needs are the more a FC makes sense. Conversely an EV is more effective.

At the same time it’s important to build out a clean ZEV infrastructure that will fuel exclusively #greenhydrogen and charging with #zerocarbon electricity through renewables and the like.

To get as close to Well to Wheel zero as possible is the complete answer in zero emission transportation. BMW Hydrogen Cars are Future.

In this way we can “remove the vehicle from the carbon equation (TM).”

Proud to have been part of the core fuel cell team and first project manager of the 70MPa Storage System at BMW Munich (F07 Fleet FCV predecessor to iX5) and standardization at SAE & ISO.

Likewise proud to have assisted in the Spartanburg BMW hydrogen infrastructure 24hour operation (including cryopump) for forklifts and now vehicles.

It is a great news that the BMW team has started scale production of fuel cell vehicles.

Looking forward to seeing the iX5 on the road and filling it up with hydrogen in Palm Springs. BMW Hydrogen Cars are Future.

If BMW’s plans become reality, the farewell to e-cars could be quicker than expected. The first small series of BMW hydrogen-powered cars will be presented before the end of 2022.

According to a spokesman, the upper section of the X family, which is very popular with customers, is particularly suited to this.

The carmaker is convinced that in the future various alternative forms of drive will co-exist, as there is no single solution that covers all the mobility requirements of customers worldwide.

The hydrogen fuel cell drive could eventually become a fourth pillar in the BMW drive portfolio. With the first on-road tests of BMW hydrogen cars, it is now becoming concrete.
