First Women Leadership Program concluded

Sindh’s First Women Leadership Program concluded at Karachi that was started in 13 March, 2023 and was concluded on 17 March, 2023.

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) organized this first Women Leadership Program with the help of Higher Education Development in Pakistan (HEDP).

The 4-Day training sessions of the first ever Women Leadership Program were conducted at the NAHE regional centre in Karachi.

In this First Women Leadership Program of Sindh, 30 women from all public sector universities across the Sindh participated.

In the participants of the training, majority were professionals working as Chairpersons, Deans, Registrar, and other senior officials.

The women attended this training were from all disciplines: engineering, technology, humanities, medical, etc.

HEC has started this program to train and capacity-building of the future women leaders in the field of academia and higher education sector.

The Vice Chancellor Rawalpindi Women University, Prof. Dr. Anila Kamal chaired the inaugural session of the program along the officials of HEC and NAHE.

This program has previously trained more than 100 women in Islamabad, Lahore, and Peshawar. However, in Karachi this was the first time event.

The program primarily focused on good governance in higher education sector including administrative strategies, recruitment procedures, work-life balance, gender equality, procurement rules, financial management, etc.

The program’s plan was addressing skill-oriented sessions and management skill developing trainings to boost best administration practices in women leadership.

The participants expressed their views that the program was helpful for the future female leaders in developing their cognitive, social, and behavioural skills.

The participants also emphasized the need of the this training program since this training will support women leaders in overcoming challenges and achieving success in their careers.

HEC expressed the need to empower existing women leaders through capacity-building program as well as nurture potential and upcoming women for leadership positions.

The participants appreciated the efforts to push women up the ladder and affirmed that these efforts are essential towards promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment in higher education.

The project has also planned a structured mentorship program to ensure sustainability. First Women Leadership Program concluded

The women trained will act as mentors/ training trainers and will pass on the learning to other women in their university or cluster of women in their geographical area.
