China planning to build its first Hyperloop Train

China to have its first Hyperloop train line between Shanghai and Hangzhou, according to the nation’s top engineering and rail design institutes.

The planed hyperloop train line will be 150km long that is around 93 mile in length. It will be a vacuum tunnel that will allow maglev trains to travel at speeds of up to 1,000 km/h or 621 mph.

The Chinese Academy of Engineering and the rail authorities in China acclaimed “comprehensive assessment on the candidate construction sites for ultra-high speed pipeline maglev system demonstration line”.

It was also told that and the two richest cities in the east coast emerged as winners. A report disseminated the information published in April 2023.

According to the South China Morning Post, an ultra-fast hyperloop train in China has successfully completed its first test runs, published on Thursday.

In this test, three test runs were conducted at a superconducting maglev test line in Datong, Shanxi province that reached speeds of 50 km per hour.

It was told that the goal of the next-generation train is to carry passengers and cargo at a speed of 1,000 km per hour or 621 miles/h.

1. What is Hyperloop Technology ?

This is a world’s fastest ground-based transport technology in which a vacuum tube is prepared and the train moves inside that vacuum tube.

According to the sources, the train will be the world’s fastest ground-based transport.

The facility where the train is being tested is built and run by the Defence contractor China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation (CASIC) which said that all went well during the first few trials.

In the test run, the used vacuum tube for the trials was only 2 km in length. The Chinese authorities are planning to extend it to 60 km over the next few years.

2. Bullet Train vs Hyperloop Train

Bullet trains and Hyperloop trains are two high-speed transportation systems that differ significantly in terms of technology and design.

Bullet trains are high-speed trains that use electric power to move on dedicated tracks. They were first developed in Japan in the 1960s and are now used in several countries around the world.

Bullet trains use a combination of advanced aerodynamics and electromagnetic suspension to achieve speeds of up to 320 km/h (200 mph). They are relatively affordable to build and operate, and they are well-established as a reliable and safe form of transportation.

Hyperloop trains, on the other hand, are a futuristic transportation concept proposed by entrepreneur Elon Musk. The Hyperloop system involves transporting passengers and cargo through low-pressure tubes at speeds of up to 1,000 km/h (620 mph).

The technology relies on magnetic levitation and air compressors to propel the pods through the tubes. Hyperloop trains are still in the development phase, and several companies are working on building and testing prototype systems.

3. Countries having Hyperloop Technology

In California and Los Angels, U.S., Hyperloop systems are intended to move cargo (formerly also passengers) at airline speeds but at a fraction of the cost. Such hyperloop lines are designed to run suspended by magnetic systems in a vacuum tube.

India is also seeking to pioneer hyperloop technology. In UAE, there are plans to link Dubai and Abu Dhabi with a hyperloop.

The Mexico City and Guadalajara are also hoping to be one of the first to showcase the hyperloop technology.

China is one of the countries that that is operating the world’s longest high-speed rail network as China’s total rail length is around 42,000 km.

The Chinese government has ambitious plans to increase the maximum speed of its trains to 248 miles/h (400 km per hour) in the next two years.

For the last a few years, China has been actively investing heavily in the hyperloop technology and now China to have its first Hyperloop Train .
